Swedesd participates at SASUF Research & Innovation Week in South Africa
SWEDESD participates at the SASUF Research & Innovation Week in Pretoria 14-18 May to strengthen research partnership and professional development for sustainable development in higher education.
The South Africa-Sweden University Forum (SASUF) is a strategic internationalization project running from 2017-2020 with the overall aim of strengthening ties between Sweden and South Africa in research, education and innovation on global challenges. The project brings together 7 Swedish and 23 South African universities.
The SASUF Research & Innovation Week is the first event and gathers 400 researchers, research funding bodies, business representatives and senior university officers in research seminars, guest lectures, workshops and network meetings to discuss sustainable development in Sweden and South Africa.
The project has defined six areas in which to develop strategies: climate change, higher education curricula, social transformation, future health systems, urbanisation and digital technologies.
SWEDESD participates to strengthen current research and professional development commitments in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in higher education, including Re-Solve ESD Scaling tool and the UNESCO Flagship Project Sustainability Starts with Teachers.
SASUF is jointly funded by STINT, the South African National Research Foundation, the South African Department of Higher Education, and partner universities and coordinated by Uppsala University.
