Building a University for the Common Good? Addressing Climate Change Together
Keri Facer is professor in Educational and Social Futures and the current Zennström Professor in Climate Change Leadership at Uppsala University.
This seminar will discuss what it might take to build powerful collaborations between universities and communities to both mitigate and adapt to climate change. Drawing on lessons learned from Keri’s role as Leadership Fellow for the UK’s Connected Communities Programme – a £40m programme of university community collaboration; on her research into university collaboration with civil society and cultural partners from Black and Minority Ethnic Groups; and her scholarship in the field of futures and anticipation studies, she will explore the opportunities and obstacles to ensuring that universities and communities work collaboratively and productively together to achieve the urgent changes needed to address climate change adequately.
The seminar will also be an opportunity for participants to reflect together on how they might move forward together around this agenda.
