Do you want to gain international experience and new perspectives? Do you want to sharpen your language skills and your cultural competence? The following four options for studying abroad are administered by the Unit for International Mobility:

Information sessions are offered online during semesters, in step with upcoming applications. In addition, some departments and faculties also offer study abroad opportunities. Here you can read more about study abroad opportunities administered by departments and faculties.

Students in Singapore

Exchange studies

  • Study courses during 1 or 2 semesters at a partner university.
  • No tuition fees.
  • Grant opportunities through Erasmus, International Credit Mobility etc.
  • All fulltime students at Uppsala University are eligible to apply.

Application dates 2021-2022

  • 15 October to 16 November 2021, for studies starting in autumn 2022.
  • 19 April to 16 May 2021, for studies starting in spring 2023.

Erasmus Traineeship

  • Grants for traineeships, field studies, volunteering, summer jobs etc.
  • Allowed duration of activity is 60-360 days
  • Open for activities in the EU + Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, Turkey and United Kingdom.
  • All fulltime students at Uppsala University are eligible to apply.

  • 1–15 November
  • 1–15 January
  • 1–15 March

Minor Field Studies

  • 27000 SEK for field studies resulting in a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis in a developing country.
  • From 56 to 140 days in the field.

Application dates 2021-2022

The application opens shortly after the closing of the previous application. The application closes:

  • 15 November 2021 (for projects that can be finished no later than 10 January 2023)
  • 15 April 2022 (for projects that can be finished no later than 10 January 2023)

Department and subject-linked exchanges

Many of our departments have their own exchange agreements, which are administered in different ways. Department and subject-linked exchange programmes are always tied to studies at a certain department or within a certain subject area. See what department you belong to so you can turn to them for information about whether they have places you can apply for.

Drop-in via Zoom

Drop-in is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 13:00–14:00 during the semesters with the exception of public holidays. We offer extra drop-in opportunities in connection with the closing of the application for exchange studies.

Extra drop-in takes place on Friday 13 May and Monday 16 May. The last drop-in for the semester is Thursday 2 June. After the summer break, we will reopen for drop-in on Thursday 1 September.

All drop-in hours are run via Zoom. Please log in using your student account (read about Zoom for students). When you enter the Zoom meeting you will be placed in the waiting room until it is your turn. In the meeting you may use audio and video if you like but may also use the chat function.

International officer Annika Jörnemark offers 30 minutes appointments, mainly during application periods and either on-campus or online.
